Fragments
A fragment is an isolated world, made from discarded pieces of other realities. These often take the form of floating islands.Shards
A shard is an individual piece making up a fragment, a single chunk broken off of some other reality.
Shards can join together to make a fragment, and the residents of a fragment may refer to the shards of their fragment in identifying the origin of various features. New shards can also join up with an existing fragment- this can vary from a minor occurrence, such as a new individual or object landing on a fragment; to cataclysmic events, such as a wild reshaping of geographical features.
Interspace
Interspace is the void between fragments.
One cannot traverse interspace simply by flying a long distance, it is also necessary to bridge the conceptual difference between fragments. Nearby fragments can be reasonably safe to travel to, but travel distant or esoteric fragments can result in a drastic rearrangement of the self.
